If you are picking us
up, but the signal has an unacceptable level of "hiss"
to it, try switching your receiver to the "Mono"
position.
You may get better
results by using an inexpensive outdoor antenna. If
you use an outdoor antenna to pick up TV channels 2-13
it will also work for KELB.
When pointing the antenna,
remember that the narrow end is the receiving end, and
it should be aimed at the Gauthier and Nelson road
intersection.
Some types of radios
like alarm clocks or some portables may have only an
internal antenna. They often don't provide connectors
for hooking up an external antenna. Many radios use the
power cord as an antenna. Make sure the cord is fully
extended. It may be helpful to experiment with your
radio placement. Reception problems can sometimes be
solved by moving your radio to a different location.
Only a few inches can often make a difference. If you
can place your radio close to a window, that will help.
If you are trying to
pick us up on your car radio, the "Scan" or Seek" button
will not always work. Depending on where you are, the
“Seek” “Scan” may skip over our signal. It is best to
manually tune your radio to 100.5.
During certain times of
the year, for short periods, there are two types of
interference which may cause
you trouble in hearing our low-power signal. These are
Tropospheric Propagation,
and Sporadic E-Layer Propagation. Both of these
conditions allow much more powerful stations from long
distances to overpower our weak signal, especially if
you live on the edge of our coverage area.
We are seeking ways to
improve our signal strength throughout all of Calcasieu
and
Cameron Parish. Pray for us as we pursue these options,
that one of them will work for us enabling us to
broadcast the gospel into every house in our parish.
